The presentation was made by Minister of Finance Carla Louveira, who represented President Daniel Chapo at the meeting, which brings together African leaders, financial institutions and investors to mobilise resources for the development of strategic infrastructure projects across the continent. On the occasion, the Minister highlighted that Mozambique has significant potential in the natural gas, renewable energy and critical minerals sectors, assets that place the country in a strong position to attract investment and accelerate the energy transition. “We understand that we have made our information available to this platform so that more investment can be channelled towards Mozambique,” she said.

Carla Louveira also reiterated the Government’s commitment to ensuring universal access to electricity by 2030, an objective that covers around 33 million Mozambicans, through the expansion of the electricity grid and the diversification of the energy mix. The Minister also argued that African countries need to find alternative financing mechanisms to address the constraints caused by the reduction in fiscal space available for infrastructure investment. “We are exchanging experiences with a view to achieving the common objective of African countries, which is to find new forms of financing to respond to the challenge of reducing fiscal space for infrastructure investment,” she said.

The Mozambican delegation also includes the Minister of Communications and Digital Transformation, Américo Muchanga, as well as officials from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Communications and Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy. The conference was opened by Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan and brings together senior African figures, including the Vice-President of Kenya, the President of the African Development Bank, Sidi Ould Tah, as well as representatives from financial institutions and development partners from across the continent.
