Photo: ADIN – Agência de Desenvolvimento Integrado do Norte The system’s main objective is to strengthen electricity supply in the region through the rehabilitation of the Awasse substation and the reinforcement of the transmission line crossing the Messalo River.
With a capacity of 34 megawatts, the system will ensure electricity supply to the districts of Macomia, Muidumbe, Mueda, Nangade, Palma and Mocímboa da Praia. Budgeted at around US$7 million and financed by the World Bank, the project includes the supply and installation of equipment, as well as training for technicians from Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM), ensuring the system’s operation and maintenance.
