Govt. hands over CDF-funded Market Shelter, Ablution…

The Local Authority in Kafue District has handed over a market shelter constructed using 2025 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and a modern ablution block built under the Zambia Devolution Support Programme at Kalukungu Market. The market shelter was constructed at a cost of over K2 million, while the ablution block was constructed at a cost of over K1 million. Speaking during the handover ceremony, Kafue District Commissioner Maurice Hikapulwe, who graced the occasion, described the development as a significant milestone in the collective effort to improve the livelihoods of residents through quality community infrastructure.

Mr Hikapulwe noted that the project demonstrates what can be achieved when Government works together with communities to address local development priorities. “Today marks another significant milestone in our collective efforts to improve the livelihoods of our people through quality community infrastructure,” said Mr Hikapulwe. He stated that the facilities have been provided to create a safer, cleaner and more dignified trading environment for marketers and the surrounding community.

Meanwhile, Kalukungu Market Chairperson Mubita Musheba commended the Government for constructing the market shelter and ablution block. Mr Musheba said marketers at the market had been facing challenges with inadequate trading space and sanitation facilities. “We are grateful to the Government for the construction of the ablution block and market shelter,” said Mr Musheba.
