Mophato Dance Theatre celebrates 15 years with a landmark production and a new book that honours Botswana’s heritage through movement, music and storytelling. For 15 years, Mophato Dance Theatre has been proving that some of Botswana’s most powerful stories don’t need words. This September, the acclaimed company celebrates the milestone with Chaba, a major production that promises to blend dance, culture and history into one unforgettable performance.

The celebrations go beyond the stage. The company will also launch “Mophato: Botswana’s Story, Told in Dance,” a new book by Thalefang Charles documenting the troupe’s remarkable journey and artistic legacy. Timed to coincide with Botswana’s 60th Independence celebrations,Chabais expected to showcase the rhythms, traditions and contemporary spirit that have defined Mophato’s work over the past decade and a half.

The production runs at the Gaborone City Council Civic Centre from September 1-3 and September 5, with performances beginning at 7:30pm. Tickets are priced at P250 for singles and P450 for doubles. For dance lovers and culture enthusiasts alike, this promises to be a celebration where Botswana’s past, present and future move to the same beat.
