The Mozambique LNG project, operated by TotalEnergies EP Mozambique Area 1, Lda (TEPMA1), held today a business workshop in the City of Pemba, Province of Cabo Delgado, to present to local suppliers contracting opportunities for the next three to nine months. This initiative comes a week after a similar event held in Palma and will be replicated next week in Maputo, with the aim of maximising local content within the Project. During the seminar, which brought together dozens of business people and representatives of private-sector associations, TEPMA1 and CCS JV – the consortium contracted for engineering, procurement and construction under the Mozambique LNG Project – together with its main subcontractors, presented a range of contracting opportunities in the areas of Construction and Engineering, Health, Safety and Environment, Emergency Services, Logistics and Transport, Office Services, Information and Communication Technologies, General Supplies, Facilities Management and Catering, and Marine and Offshore services.

On the occasion, additional information was shared regarding procurement procedures and health, safety and environment (HSE) requirements, with the objective of strengthening the preparedness of national companies to integrate the Mozambique LNG Project’s value chain in the coming months. Edna Simbine, Local Content Manager at TEPMA1, emphasised: “Following the full resumption of our Mozambique LNG Project last January, we have now resumed these workshops, which reinforce our unwavering commitment to local content. We firmly believe that the development of local suppliers is strategic for the Mozambique LNG Project.

Indeed, the local procurement of goods and services contributes to strengthening Mozambique’s business fabric and is an important catalyst for job creation for Mozambicans and for the country’s economic growth.” Mozambique LNG is the first onshore development of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in the country. The project includes the development of the Golfinho and Atum fields located within Offshore Area 1 and the construction of a two-trains liquefaction plant with a capacity of 13.12 million tonnes per year. The Area 1 contains approximately up to 65 Tcf of gas resources, of which 18 Tcf will be developed with the first two trains.
