A motorist escaped with moderate injuries after a truck allegedly lost control while descending Fields Hill and overturned onto a car at the Richmond Road and M13 intersection in Pinetown on Saturday morning. Emergency services were on scene shortly at 10:15 am. ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said paramedics arrived to find a truck lying on top of a vehicle after the collision.
According to Jamieson, the truck was allegedly travelling down Fields Hill when it somehow lost control before overturning and coming to rest on the car. Despite the extensive damage to the vehicle, the driver survived the crash and sustained moderate injuries. “This driver is exceptionally lucky to survive this ordeal, and fortunately, there were no passengers in the vehicle,” said Jamieson.
The truck driver and a passenger in the truck sustained minor injuries and were assessed on scene by paramedics. Emergency personnel treated the injured before further medical care was arranged. Authorities have urged motorists to avoid the Richmond Road and M13 intersection while recovery operations and investigations continue.
