Kimberley ChitambaraA 26-YEAR-OLD man will spend the next three years behind bars after a brutal knife attack that left his victim’s intestines hanging out.Simon Tawanda Magede of Rangwa village in Chirumanzu appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Mark Dzira charged with attempted murder. He was sentenced to five years in jail, with two years suspended on condition of good behaviour, leaving him to serve three years effective.According to the State, represented by prosecutor Jethro Mada, the gruesome incident happened in the early hours of 24 July when Magede, who wassleeping in his zinc-sheet cabin, was awakened by the sound of stones hitting his roof.When he went outside to investigate, he found the complainant pelting stones at his cabin.

In a fit of rage, Magede chased after him.“Upon catching up with the complainant, Magede stabbed him several times with a knife,” said Mada. “The complainant sustained three cuts on the buttocks, five cuts on the right leg and one deep wound on the stomach that exposed his intestines, leaving them visible and vulnerable.”Magede fled from the scene when the complainant’s relatives rushed to his rescue. The injured man was rushed to Gweru Provincial Hospital, where he is still admitted.The court described Magede’s actions as “reckless and barbaric”, saying he was lucky the victim survived the attack.Leave a ReplyCancel reply
