HARARE —Prominent cleric Prophet T Freddy last Friday conducted prayers and healing for patients at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals in a visit that drew mixed reactions from onlookers and reignited debate around faith healing in Zimbabwe. The incident proved ‘doubting Thomases’ wrong as he noticed that public hospitals continue to face capacity and resource challenges. According to witnesses, Prophet T Freddy was seen praying for patients outside the hospital premises before entering several wards, where he continued ministering to those receiving treatment.
Some onlookers claimed that patients showed improvement after prayers. “I appeal to those who recorded videos or took pictures inside the wards to keep them for personal use and respect the privacy of patients.”Witnesses said the cleric emphasized discretion throughout the visit, insisting that his actions be carried out away from cameras. Some observers expressed surprise at what they described as visible changes among certain patients.“I used to think these men of God were scammers, but what I saw changed my mind,” said one eyewitness. “He came quietly, prayed, and people reacted positively.
I saw it with my own eyes.”Another witness, Nelson Macheka, said the prayers appeared to address what he described as spiritual afflictions.“Some people were manifesting and after prayer they calmed down. To me, it showed that some illnesses have a spiritual dimension,”Macheka said.Prophet T Freddy said his visit was motivated by a personal conviction to offer both spiritual and material support to those in need.“I feel led to help people spiritually and physically,” he said.
