Madalisto Phiri also known as Dalisoul Mwana Wamu Komboni, the outspoken musician known for his street-inspired music, has been fined K800 after pleading guilty to driving without a valid driver’s licence following a crash involving a police motorbike in Lusaka. Phiri appeared before the Lusaka Fast Track Court before Magistrate Moffat Phiri, where he admitted to the offence. In mitigation, Phiri admitted his wrongdoing, expressed regret over the incident and assured the court that he would champion road safety awareness and compliance with traffic regulations.

The court heard that on April 27, 2026, around 23:00 hours, Phiri drove a Nissan March bearing registration number BAB 5514 ZM along Mosi-oa-Tunya Road in Lusaka without being the holder of a valid driver’s licence, contrary to the Road Traffic Act. The offence came to light after the vehicle was involved in a road traffic accident opposite Puma Filling Station. The collision involved Inspector Kwibisa Mbuye, who was riding a Zambia Police Service BMW motorbike.

He sustained minor injuries and was rushed to Maina Soko Military Hospital for treatment, while the police motorbike suffered extensive front-end damage. Magistrate Phiri subsequently convicted the musician on his own admission and fined him K800.
