Vodacom Group intends to reinforce its investments in Mozambique, focusing on the expansion of connectivity, digitalization, Artificial Intelligence (AI), fiber optic networks, 5G technology, and the construction of a data center. The announcement was made this Wednesday by the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Shameel Joosub, following an audience with the President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo. At the conclusion of the meeting, Joosub described the talks as encouraging, stating that the dialogue with the Head of State reinforced the South African multinational’s confidence in the growth prospects of the Mozambican market and in the Government’s commitment to modernizing digital infrastructure.

As he explained, the meeting provided an opportunity to analyze the role of digital transformation in the country’s economic and social development, as well as to identify opportunities to replicate in Mozambique technological projects that Vodacom already implements in other African and European markets. The company aims to expand investments in telecommunications infrastructure, including fiber optic networks for homes and businesses, strengthening 5G mobile coverage, and connectivity solutions via fiber and satellite, aimed at improving the quality of services provided to customers. In addition to expanding connectivity, the group intends to introduce new technological solutions, highlighting Artificial Intelligence projects and the construction of a data center, considered strategic for accelerating the country’s digital transformation.

According to Shameel Joosub, President Daniel Chapo expressed interest in the initiatives presented and reiterated his commitment to supporting investments capable of driving innovation, digital inclusion, and economic development. The group CEO stated that the atmosphere of dialogue with the Government and the convergence of goals regarding digitalization create favorable conditions for new investments in the coming years, adding that the company intends to bring technologies and solutions to Mozambique that have already been successfully tested in other markets.
