AMAL Industries, a leading manufacturer of woven sacks and packaging, based in the central Mozambican city of Beira, has started operations of its new block-bottom valve cement bag manufacturing unit. In a statement, the company claims that the investment is crucial and it was designed to strengthen Mozambique’s industrial base, support the construction sector, and reduce the country’s reliance on imported packaging. “The new unit will produce high-strength polypropylene woven block-bottom valve cement bags for cement producers and construction material suppliers, offering durable, reliable, and locally manufactured packaging solutions”, reads the statement.

The investment is part of AMAL’s wider expansion strategy and reinforces the company’s role as a national industrial partner to key sectors of the Mozambican economy. “This investment is about more than producing cement bags. “We believe this project will bring meaningful value to the country by supporting the construction sector, strengthening local manufacturing, and positioning Mozambique as a more competitive producer of industrial packaging”, he added. In addition to expanding local production capacity, the project is expected to create direct and indirect employment opportunities, support skills development, and contribute to the growth of communities connected to AMAL’s operations. The new block-bottom valve cement bag line, the document says, is designed to meet the demanding requirements of the construction sector, including strength, tear resistance, load stability, moisture protection, efficient filling, secure closure, and professional branding for cement producers and “these qualities are essential for safe storage, transport, handling, and presentation of cement and other construction materials.” “With this investment, AMAL reinforces its commitment to industrial development, quality, safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable economic growth.
