Diana NhereraHARARE Mayor Councillor Jacob Mafume has reminded councillors that the dress code for meetings is a suit and tie for male councillors, while female councillors are expected to wear a jacket if they are wearing short-sleeved clothing.Speaking before the 2026 budget presentation at Townhouse on Thursday, Cllr Mafume said shoulders are considered to be private parts according to the by-laws.“We would like to remind members in this room that the dress code is suit and tie for gentlemen,” he said.“For the ladies, we consider your shoulders to be private parts, so if you are putting on a short-sleeved blouse, you need to wear a jacket, that’s what the by-laws say.“For the gentlemen, I know it’s hot, but it’s suit and tie.
Today we will continue simply because we are not following strict guidelines, but be reminded that this dress code must be obeyed.“So let’s be guided accordingly for our next meeting and other meetings that we are to hold.”Leave a ReplyCancel reply
