Mthabisi Tshuma in MakhulelaTHE San community in Bulilima District, Matabeleland South Province, has received a major boost in the form of grain aid from the Government.The community, located in Ward 9 about 120 kilometres from Plumtree town, borders Botswana, Hwange National Park and Tsholotsho District at a point known as Point 22.Human–wildlife conflict has been a recurring challenge in the area, with wild animals often destroying the few crops that residents manage to cultivate.In a bid to ensure food security, the Government on Thursday delivered 60 tonnes of grain to Makhulela Ward, which was distributed to the entire community.Of the total consignment, 30 tonnes was rice and 30 tonnes was wheat.Speaking ahead of the distribution process, Bulilima Constituency legislator, Cde Dingumuzi Phuti, urged the responsible authorities to ensure fair distribution and commended the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) and Bulilima proportional representation Member of Parliament, Dr Evelyn Ndlovu, for their swift coordination in delivering the aid.“On behalf of the community, I would like to thank the Government led by the able leadership of His Excellency Dr E.D.

Mnangagwa, through the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, for this timely food donation to Makhulela Ward. The food should benefit all members of the Ward who are part of the San community and are scattered across several villages.“I would also like to thank and appreciate the services of NRZ who, after I engaged their management, managed to transport the consignment from Harare to Plumtree. Honourable Dr Ndlovu ensured that the consignment reached the community.
