Holi, the festival of unity, was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Midlands Hindu Society (MHS) Holi Festival held at Raisethorpe Secondary School on Saturday evening. The event was a vibrant showcase of music, dance, and colour, with performers adorned in eye-catching outfits mesmerising the audience. Ranjiv Nirghin, President of MHS, expressed his appreciation for the organisers.

“We applaud the members of the organisation who created a wonderful programme that catered to the young and old in our community,” he said. We want to thank everyone who came together to create an event that celebrated our culture using indigenous games. Niteen Subhash Yeola, Consulate General of India in Durban, echoed similar sentiments, praising the organisation for continuing cultural traditions.

“Holi is a festival that brings communities together, and it’s heartening to see so many young people here today. We encourage the youth to continue embracing and celebrating cultural festivals and programmes,” he said. Yeola also highlighted opportunities for South African students to study in India, mentioning multiple programmes that facilitate this.
