HARARE- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has restructured the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries and Rural Development, dividing it into two separate ministries. The newly created portfolios are the Ministry of Lands and Rural Development and the Ministry of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Water Resources Development. Anxious Jongwe Masuka, who headed the combined ministry, has been appointed Minister of Lands and Rural Development.
The former Deputy Minister of the merged portfolio, Vangelis Peter Haritatos (pictured), has been elevated to Minister of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Water Resources Development. The reconfiguration and appointments were announced in a statement issued by the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Martin Rushwaya, on Friday, 10 March 2026. Rushwaya confirmed that the appointments and reassignments take immediate effect.
