KZN Inland Cricket posts record surplus as union looks to a stronger future

The KZN Inland Cricket Union has reported its strongest financial performance to date, posting a record operating surplus and another clean audit at its fifth Annual General Meeting held at the historic Pietermaritzburg Oval. The positive financial results highlighted a successful 2025/26 season for the Union, which continues to invest in developing cricket across its six districts despite ongoing challenges with facilities and infrastructure. CEO Jason Sathiaseelan said the achievements reflected the resilience of the organisation in a demanding operating environment.

“The past year has been one of both challenges and achievements. While we encountered obstacles along the way, we have continued to strengthen our governance structures, expand our cricket programmes, invest in infrastructure and maintain sound financial management,” he said. These achievements are the result of the collective efforts of our board, staff, coaches, volunteers, sponsors and stakeholders who continue to believe in the vision of KZN Inland Cricket.

The union said it remains committed to growing the game from grassroots level through to the professional ranks by investing in youth development, women’s cricket, club cricket, coaching, transformation programmes and community initiatives. One of the biggest obstacles continues to be the condition and availability of cricket facilities across the province. However, the union praised district committees, schools, clubs, volunteers and groundsmen for ensuring that the game continues to thrive despite limited resources.

Union president Goolam Amod described the past season as a landmark year. “Looking back, I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together and the strong position in which we now find ourselves. “Financially, this has been the strongest year in our history, with record-breaking profits that provide a solid platform to continue investing in cricket throughout our region,” said Amod.
