NetOne Unveils Bulilima Telemedicine Booth, Championing Inclusive Healthcare

In a landmark event that underscores the Second Republic’s commitment to leaving no one and no place behind, NetOne on Sunday unveiled a state-of-the-art Telemedicine booth in Bulilima, bringing digital healthcare solutions to the doorstep of the community. The launch, which attracted over 1000 people, was a vibrant demonstration of how public-private partnerships are driving Zimbabwe towards the achievement of Vision 2030. The Guest of Honour was the local Member of Parliament and Deputy Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services,Honourable Dingumuzi Phuthi.

Richard Ndlovu, a Member of the Politburo Committee of the ruling party, and theMinister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndlovu. Ernest Magadzire, the NetOne Group CEO,Engineer Raphael Mushanawani, reiterated the company’s role as a partner for sustainable development.

“The Telemedicine booth is a prime example of how we are leveraging our robust network to bridge critical gaps,” the CEO’s speech read. “Under our flagship banner,OneHealth, we are enabling a mother here in Bulilima to consult with a specialist in Bulawayo or Harare. We are ensuring that distance no longer dictates the quality of healthcare one receives.” The speech paid tribute to the visionary leadership of His Excellency, PresidentCde Dr.

Emmerson Mnangagwa, and the First Lady,Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa, who is the Ambassador for Health and the brainchild of the national telemedicine initiative. The First Lady’s programme was launched at Precab Farm in Kwekwe by the President himself, setting a national tone for rural healthcare transformation.

Health experts at the event applauded the collaboration between NetOne and ZimSmart Village, describing it as a game-changer for rural healthcare delivery. Alderman Land Ndebele, speaking on behalf of the Bulilima Rural District Council, expressed profound gratitude to NetOne for the gesture. “This is a significant investment in the health and future of our people,” he stated.

“I urge every member of this community to jealously protect and fully utilise this facility.” The founder of ZimSmart Village,Dr. Jokwiro, thanked NetOne for the strategic partnership that made the project a reality. He also took the opportunity to encourage men in the community to improve their health-seeking behaviours.

“This technology removes the barrier of distance. I implore our men to use this facility to proactively check on their health, breaking the stigma of silence,” Dr. Jokwiro said. The event solidified NetOne’s position not just as a telecommunications provider, but as a key enabler of the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) and the incoming NDS2, leveraging technology to create a healthier, more inclusive future for all Zimbabweans.
