Opening the forum, Mozambique’s Ambassador to the United States, Alfredo Nuvunga, described Houston as an example of development driven by innovation, consistent public policies and private investment, arguing that Mozambique has the conditions to follow a similar path. The ambassador highlighted the country’s strategic location on the Indian Ocean, its abundant natural resources, vast energy potential, critical minerals, extensive agricultural land and predominantly young population as key advantages for international investors. “Our commitment is to transform these assets into industrialisation, job creation and shared prosperity,” he said.
Representing Mozambique’s private sector, CTA Vice-President Onório Manuel said the business mission went beyond simply seeking financing, describing it as an effort to build strategic alliances capable of driving the industries of the future. According to Manuel, Mozambique offers significant competitive advantages through the logistics corridors of Maputo, Beira and Nacala, which provide privileged access to markets across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). “Investing in Mozambique means taking part in building a more industrialised and integrated economy,” he said.
He also invited US investors to visit Mozambique, reaffirming CTA’s commitment to supporting companies seeking to establish operations in the country. According to Mayamona, the challenge now is to turn intentions into concrete investments and lasting partnerships. Quoting a Congolese Bantu proverb, “A single bracelet makes no noise”, he stressed that progress depends on cooperation and called for the creation of a genuine “bridge of prosperity” between Texas and Mozambique. During the forum, APIEX presented Mozambique’s legal framework for foreign investment and highlighted opportunities in energy, natural gas, mining, agro-industry, infrastructure, logistics, manufacturing, technology, tourism and local supplier development.
