The deadlines, amounts and payment conditions will be defined in the Strategy’s implementation plan, Impissa said. “The Strategy itself does not establish a specific deadline for when it will end,” he said. The process to regularise State debt to suppliers includes a rigorous validation of the amounts claimed by suppliers, through verification of the services allegedly provided, the documentation submitted and other evidence proving the existence of the obligation.
In this way, the government aims to ensure that only legitimate and duly documented debts are recognised and paid, while also reducing the risk of duplicate payments. Impissa said the strategy also includes mechanisms to ensure the financial sustainability of the regularisation of outstanding amounts, strengthen internal controls and prevent the accumulation of new debts, with the aim of improving the predictability of budget execution and confidence between the State and its suppliers.
