Bindura University Gets New Identity as Cabinet Approves Name Change

The Government has approved the renaming of the Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE) to Bindura University of Science, Innovation and Technology (BUSIT), in a move aimed at aligning the institution’s identity with Zimbabwe’s national development agenda. The decision was approved by Cabinet following a presentation by the Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, Honourable Dr. According to Cabinet, the new name better reflects the University’s strategic focus on the three key pillars of Science, Innovation and Technology, which now define its mandate and future direction.

Established in 1996 as a specialised teacher-training institution for science education, Bindura University has since evolved into a comprehensive public university offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in areas such as science, engineering, agriculture, commerce, social sciences, environmental studies and health sciences. Over the years, the institution has expanded its research and innovation activities, contributing to Zimbabwe’s industrialisation and economic development agenda.
