Kamombo Unveils US$5 Million Football Academy Project in Mozambique

Manica,Mozambique-Manica Diamonds FC owner and president Evance Kamombo continues to demonstrate his unwavering commitment to football development in Zimbabwe, with a vision that extends far beyond the domestic Premier Soccer League. On Monday, Manica Diamonds FC travelled to Mozambique with a high-powered delegation to tour the Njerenje Educational Facility in Vanduzi District, Manica Province. The visit culminated in high-level discussions centred on youth football development, with a particular focus on nurturing boys between the ages of six and 17.

Kamombo is spearheading plans to transform the Njerenje Academy into a world-class football development centre that will identify, nurture and develop young talent while combining education with elite football training. The ambitious project is expected to attract an investment of more than US$5million, underlining his long-term commitment to the future of the game. The visit and subsequent discussions are clear evidence that Kamombo is not merely talking about football development, he is investing significantly in it.

His vision is to create sustainable pathways for young players to reach professional football while contributing to the growth of the sport in Zimbabwe and the region. At a time when football development requires visionary leadership and substantial private investment, Kamombo stands out as one of the few individuals single-handedly financing a top-flight club. He continues to bankroll Manica Diamonds FC in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League while simultaneously investing in grassroots football through the Manica Diamonds under 19 and proposed Njerenje Academy.
