Chief Kalunga of Kabompo District of North-Western Province has commended President Hakainde Hichilema for maintaining peace, stability and an enabling environment for citizens to conduct their businesses freely. The traditional leader says the country has experienced improved political tolerance since 2021, allowing citizens to carry out their daily activities without fear of harassment by political cadres. “We acknowledge that the UPND government has brought sanity and freedom to all Zambians.
Citizens are now able to conduct their businesses without fear of harassment by political cadres. This is how the country ought to be governed,” he says. Chief Kalunga also expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the ongoing election campaigns, noting that no incidents of political violence had been recorded in his chiefdom.
“To date, there have been no reports of violence during the ongoing campaigns in my chiefdom. We have only heard of isolated incidents along the line of rail and these are not as prevalent as they were in the past,” he said. Chief Kalunga also commended the government for the recent delimitation of Kabompo Constituency into two constituencies, saying the move would accelerate development and improve service delivery to the people.
