Detective Mjein releases single titled Baba Ngiyacela

Mjein crafted the song as a tribute to his cousin Thabo Solomon. “Last year in September 2025, I lost my cousin Thabo Solomon. The song is a tribute to him,” he explained.

The title “Baba Ngiyacela” means “Modimo re a kopa: God, we are asking.” In the track, Lucia Dottie’s smooth crooning forms the body of the song, while Mjein’s raspy vocals drive the emotional core. During his verse, Mjein adopts a Kwaito-inspired cadence and delivery as he laments to God. The production, handled by Emjoe Records and Dj Skizoh BW in Mogoditshane, creates an atmospheric and gentle feel.
