Mozambique’s Secretary of State for the Sea and Fisheries, Momade Juízo, yesterday launched the National Animal Vaccination Campaign 2026 in Magude district, Maputo province, representing the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Fisheries, Roberto Albino. The vaccination drive will cover districts and localities across the country. The campaign will be held under the slogan “For a sustainable and market-oriented livestock sector”.
It aims to vaccinate around 2.4 million cattle against anthrax, 1 million against blackleg, 2.4 million against foot-and-mouth disease (FMD), 1.3 million against lumpy skin disease (LSD), and 20,000 cattle against Rift Valley fever (RVF). In addition to cattle, the programme also plans to vaccinate more than 44 million family-sector chickens against Newcastle disease (ND), as well as immunise over 300,000 dogs and cats against rabies over the course of the year.
