The only KwaZulu-Natal team that made it to this season’s Nedbank Cup finals, Durban City, believes that it has to win the trophy for the entire KZN province and their loyal supporters. The Chatsworth-based outfit is on course to make history as the team eye their first-ever Nedbank Cup trophy. The Citizens’ passionate supporters — the majority of whom come from around Pietermaritzburg and other nearby areas — are hoping for some silverware before the end of the season.

Durban City will lock horns against TS Galaxy on Saturday at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. Kickoff is at 6pm. City’s chairperson Farook Kadodia on Thursday told The Witness that his team was excited to have reached the Nedbank Cup final and aiming to win it for KZN.

He said that although The Citizens are happy to be in the final, they are aware that they will be facing experienced opponents who are also previous champions of the competition. We are very happy that we made it to the finals, indeed it is an honour and privilege that we are representing our province-KZN. “We are aware that it won’t be easy because they also want to make history and win it again.
