Silver Strikers FC on Friday night dominated the second edition of Football Association of Malawi (FAM) Football Awards at Comesa Hall in Blantyre, sweeping eight accolades in men and women’s categories. The ladies’ team proved to be the most outstanding with forward Deborah Henry being the biggest winner of individual accolades after raking in three of the awards. Apart from being named FAM’s women’s player of the season, she also claimed the National Bank of Malawi (NBM) Women’s Premiership’s top-scorer with 23 goals and won the player of the tournament honours.
“It is a pleasant surprise to win three awards tonight. This is a big motivation for me as I look forward to another wonderful season this year. I also thank my teammates and Silver Strikers for their support,” she said.
Silver Ladies won three more awards during the night. Ireen Khumalo and Ireen Sibande scooped the NBM Women’s Premiership defender and goalkeeper of the season awards, respectively. Their coach Andrew ‘Aluki’ Chikhosi claimed the FAM women’s coach of the season honours after outclassing Scorchers coach Lovemore Fazili and Under-20 Women’s National Team coach Maggie Chombo-Sadiki.

In the 2025 season, Silver Ladies won the inaugural NBM Women’s Premiership with 48 points from 18 games, having won 16 matches and lost two. During the awards, Silver Strikers men’s team also bagged two accolades through Festus Duwe, who bagged the men’s young player of the Year, and George Chikooka, who took the FDH Bank Cup goalkeeper of the season award. The Castel Challenge Cup produced FCB Nyasa Bullets striker Maxwell Gasten Phodo as both top-scorer and player of the tournament following the seven goals he scored in five matches, guiding Bullets to ultimate glory.
Teammate Innocent Nyasulu won the Castel Challenge goalkeeper of the tournament while Mzuzu City Hammers attacker Alex Msiska won the discovery of the tournament accolade. In the FDH Bank Cup, Mchinji Villa FC striker Davie Juwawo bagged the discovery of the tournament award and jointly claimed the golden boot with Babatunde Adepoju of Bullets. Mighty Wanderers FC midfielder Blessings Singini won the cup’s player of the tournament awards.
His coach Bob Mpinganjira was named FAM Award’s coach of the season as Chikumbutso Salima, who played for Bullets in the 2025 season, lifted the player of the year award. The women’s young player award went to Kukoma Ntopwa Women attacker Sarah Mlimbika. Young non-elite player of the year award winner was Chikondi Howa.
