It has been a long wait for both the finalists and Malawians, especially pageant enthusiasts. But the day is finally here. Malawi tonight crowns its new Miss Culture Malawi queen at the Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe.

In separate interviews, both finalists and organisers said everything is in place and the contestants are fully geared for the decisive night. The event will see 10 finalists compete for the crown. Miss Culture Malawi chief executive officer Lorraine Kljajic said they are ready to host the finale following the commencement of boot camp activities.

“We are ready to host the Miss Culture Malawi finale. The finalists entered boot camp on Sunday and have already engaged in intensive training,” Kljajic said. According to the organisers, the pageant is designed to nurture confident and culturally grounded young women who can positively represent Malawi and its heritage, including on international platforms. Contestants’ manager Penelope Mbewe said the boot camp programme has been both demanding and transformative for the finalists. “The preparations are going very well.

The finalists are fully immersed in activities that are shaping them into well-rounded queens,” she said. Mbewe noted that the finalists have already completed key outreach activities, including a tree-planting exercise at Bunda and a donation drive at Kusewera. She said the contestants have also received training in image management, branding and entrepreneurship, with social project presentations scheduled as part of the final preparations.

“They are confident, ready and well prepared. This has helped them grow in confidence, knowledge and teamwork. They are excited to showcase their talents, culture and impact,” she said.

Mbewe said all finalists are receiving equal support and opportunities, with a transparent judging process guided by detailed scorecards. In terms of garments for the finale, she said they have partnered with Chichi Fashions, which is designing outfits for the introduction segment, while contestants are collaborating with individual designers for other categories.
