A man was shot dead in an apparent ambush in Westville, Durban, on Tuesday afternoon. According to ALS Paramedics, the shooting occurred near the intersection of Buckingham Terrace and Menston Road. Police and Metro Police quickly sealed off the scene, which remained under heavy guard as investigations got under way.
ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said emergency services received multiple calls reporting gunfire in the area. “Paramedics arrived to find South African Police Service already on scene. They were directed to a vehicle that had been riddled with bullets,” said Jamieson.
“The driver, believed to be the sole occupant of the vehicle, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Sadly, there was nothing paramedics could do, and he was declared dead at the scene.” Jamieson said the scene was expected to remain active for some time while police continued their investigation.
