FORMER CMED board chairperson Engineer Tammy Mary Stevenson has been appointed as a Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe board member. “The Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) management and staff are pleased to welcome Dr Eng Tamara M Stevenson, who was recently appointed to the CAAZ Board of Directors as a board member,” it said. “A distinguished Professional Mechanical Engineer, fellow member of the Engineering Council of Zimbabwe with over 20 years of expertise in project management, Dr Eng Stevenson is the current Deputy President of Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers, where she is actively advancing STEM education, gender equality and international collaborations.” CAAZ said as a former board chairperson of CMED, Eng Stevenson spearheaded the transformation of the entity into a key player in road rehabilitation and infrastructure projects, established the Construction Unit, and championed the adoption of electric vehicles in Zimbabwe.
“She ably led the team in strengthening corporate governance and improving financial accountability.” Eng Stevenson holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Project Management, a Master of Engineering degree in Manufacturing Systems and Operations Management and several professional qualifications in business leadership. She has been awarded multiple accolades which recognised her outstanding contributions as a trailblazer committed to empowering women in engineering, breaking barriers in male-dominated fields, and mentoring future leaders through resilience, servant leadership, and innovation. “Her vast knowledge and expertise as a corporate leader and technocrat will be a valuable cog in the board’s oversight role of the Authority,” CAAZ said. Eng Stevenson has since been appointed as the authority’s chairperson of the Risk Management Committee.
