The Zambia Police Service has confirmed that it has received a formal complaint against Honourable Miles Sampa. The complaint was lodged on January 19, 2026, at Lusaka Central Police Station by Mr. Raphael Phiri, 53, a Corporate Affairs Officer at the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ), acting on behalf of the Commission.

According to police, the complaint relates to an incident alleged to have occurred on January 15, 2026, in which Honourable Sampa is accused of transmitting information that the Electoral Commission of Zambia maintains was false. The information reportedly claimed that a fake polling station had been opened along Ring Road in Lusaka.Police have since opened a docket of case for the offence of transmission of unsolicited or deceptive communication, contrary to Section 19 of the Cyber Crimes Act No. 4 of 2025.Investigations into the matter have commenced, and police have indicated that the public will be informed of any significant developments as they arise. 4 of 2025.
