Excitement is building at the Kershaw Park Tennis Stadium as the 2025 Salga KZN DSAC Games move into their second day, with uMgungundlovu, King Cetshwayo and eThekwini tipped as the front-runners for Saturday afternoon’s tennis final. uMgungundlovu team manager Anil Mooljee urged residents to come out in numbers for the finals, expected to get underway at around 3 pm on Saturday. “Six districts are participating, and the two strong teams are uMgungundlovu and eThekwini.

It will be interesting to see how the games pan out,” he said. The tennis action is part of a much bigger sporting showcase unfolding across the uMgungundlovu District this weekend as Msunduzi, uMngeni, and Mkhambathini municipalities co-host KwaZulu-Natal’s premier inter-municipal tournament. This is the first time in seven years that the district has hosted the Salga KZN DSAC Games.

District Mayor Mzi Zuma said careful planning went into distributing hosting responsibilities to ensure the games were accessible and impactful. “We wanted to spread the games across the district so that their impact could be widely felt,” said Zuma. “We identified three municipalities, Msunduzi, uMngeni, and Mkhambathini, that best meet the hosting requirements.” Zuma said the tournament continues to be a key driver of sporting development in the province.“The games show residents the opportunities that sport provides and help young people dream beyond their circumstances,” he said. The 2025 Salga KZN DSAC Games run from December 4 to 7.
