It’s giving us steady work and helping us support our families.“Construction work is not just a job for us, it’s an opportunity. We are learning new skills and growing professionally.“Thanks to these projects, many of us who were unemployed now have a reliable source of income.
We are proud to be contributing to national development,” construction workers said.The Afreximbank seems to have inspired many other financial institutions, as witnessed by what is happening along Ridgeway Drive in Highlands, where a local bank is now at an advanced stage of constructing its head office.The boom is being attributed to the government’s friendly policies.“More activities are being witnessed in 2025, especially in this last quarter. We can talk of the construction roads, dams, houses, and commercial, and these are enablers. This is highly attributed to investor confidence in the Zimbabwean market, where we are also seeing investors from outside the country warming up to the Investments,” the president of the Zimbabwe Building Contractors Association, Dr Tinashe Manzungu said.The rise in urbanisation is also driving the surge in construction activities being witnessed across the country.“The rise in urbanisation is also contributing to what we are witnessing here in Harare.
The need to increase housing deliveries is also contributing to the warming up in this sector,” Dr Manzungu noted.The boom comes at a time when the government is supporting the construction sector through strategic policies and initiatives, including tax incentives and ease of doing business reforms.
