Murewa district has three constituencies and recorded a total of 1 628 cells after the exercise.

Murewa South has the highest number of cells at 598, followed by Murewa North at 542, with Murewa West getting 488. “The cell registration and verification exercise went on well and the cell registers have been send to the party headquarters,” a party insider said. “Despite Murewa South having the highest number of cells, we were shocked to note some members announcing that the process has to be redone. “We are not aware of the motive, but the move is being resisted. ”It is reported that some district chairpersons have since written to the provincial secretary for administration, Felix Mhona airing their grievances and resisting the move.

In the letters, the chairpersons revealed that some people were ordering cell re-registration.

Efforts to get a comment from Zanu PF provincial spokesperson Tatenda Mavetera were fruitless yesterday.

THE ruling Zanu PF party is set to implode in Murewa South constituency after reports of senior party officials in Mashonaland East province trying to rewrite cell registers despite the exercise being over.
