On 13 Aug 2025, Mandizvidza announced a carefully worded statement with which he identified himself by name and rank.
Mandizvidza ordered all Chinese nationals to leave Zimbabwe within 48 hours and warned that attempts to apprehend him could spark conflict: “Hapana munhu anorowa, vanhu vachafamba zvakanaka, vagobuda.
If you really love your country support me,” he said.
In a strongly worded statement released today, ZRP said it “categorically disassociates itself” from Mandizvidza’s actions, branding him a “rogue policeman. ” Authorities said the officer is now facing disciplinary charges under the Police Act [Chapter 11:10] as well as criminal proceedings.
Commissioner-General of Police Stephen Mutamba reassured the public that the force remains committed to serving Zimbabwe and its leadership “in line with the tenets of the police’s constitutional mandate. ”
The ZRP’s Chief Staff Officer for Press and Public Relations, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, signed off the statement, underlining that the force will not tolerate conduct that undermines its integrity or national security.
By the time of writing, the ZRP had failed to prove that they have truly arrested Mandizvidza, and he soon popped out in a new uniform announcing that he is safe.
He used language similar to that used by the late General SB Moyo in 2017, and most recently the anti corruption activist, Blessed Geza. -ZimEye. 🔗
