Mining shake-up in Chegutu
In the resources sector, Magaya Mining has acquired Giant Mine in Chegutu from Dallaglio, the gold unit of Padenga Holdings.
Dallaglio already operates Pickstone and Eureka mines in the area and controls a portfolio of gold claims.
However, Giant Mine itself has largely been idle, with artisanal miners exploiting surrounding claims.
The acquisition could unlock new investment into the underutilised asset.
Private equity backs fibre expansion
Private equity investor Digital Dock has taken a 20. 5% stake in DFA Zimbabwe, the local arm of South Africa’s Dark Fibre Africa.
DFA, backed by Remgro, is a major wholesale provider of open-access fibre infrastructure.
The capital injection is expected to strengthen Zimbabwe’s digital backbone at a time of surging demand for broadband connectivity.
Africa Steel expands footprint
In the manufacturing space, Africa Steel has bought the assets of Propak, a subsidiary of diversified group TSL.
The deal includes Propak’s 8,154-square-metre property in Harare’s industrial hub of Workington.
Africa Steel plans to expand its operations on the site, underlining its growth strategy in the steel and construction value chain.
