Langalakhe Mabena, Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment HubDUST off your dancing shoes, Europe — Zimbabwe’s golden oldies are crossing borders. The Legends Night show, famed for breathing new life into the country’s timeless music, is heading international with its first-ever tour abroad.Led by the electric InTotal Band, the Legends Night movement is set to ignite stages in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, delivering classic Zimbabwean hits that defined generations. The much-anticipated journey begins on 29 August at Mandela Hall in Belfast, followed by a show on 31 August in Birmingham.Frontman Jose Sax is still pinching himself.

“We are happy that the tour is finally here. We are obviously nervous about this, but we are super excited that we are doing it. This is our first time and it’s ground breaking.

We are delving into a new environment and this is just the beginning of the greater things to come,” said Jose.Launched in Harare in 2023, Legends Night has grown from a nostalgic sing-along session into a powerful cultural movement. Through stunning live renditions of local music legends, the event pays homage to Zimbabwe’s rich musical heritage. After debuting outside the capital with shows in Bulawayo and Kadoma earlier this year, Jose said the team realised they were onto something much bigger.“Staging gigs out of the capital is something we did not see coming. But, when we saw responses from people from out of Harare and Zimbabwe, saying that we should come to their cities, it boosted our confidence,” he said.

Buoyed by roaring crowds and heartfelt support, the group knew it was time to take the plunge and conquer Europe.“We listened and took the show to the people and surprisingly, the turnout was amazing in all the cities we went to as people received us well. This then gave birth to a bigger vision of touring Europe,” said Jose. For diasporans hungry for a taste of home, Legends Night promises more than just music. It’s a full-blown celebration of roots, rhythm and reunions.“Legends Night is all about giving an experience that one will never forget.

This tour is going to be something memorable for all our listeners, both the young and old. We encourage everyone to bring their family, friends and dancing shoes because it’s going to be an experience of a lifetime,” said Jose. The countdown is on. Belfast and Birmingham, brace yourselves.
