BusinessNewsBy Nigel PfundeBeijing ,China- ZIMBABWE’ s ambitious drive to transform its mining sector has earned international recognition after the country was voted the most improved mining jurisdiction in the world,Express Mail Zim can report.The country has surpassed traditional powerhouses such as Saudi Arabia, Canada and Australia.The accolade was announced at the Global Mining Investment Forum in Beijing, China where Mines and Mining Development Minister Winston Chitando told delegates that Zimbabwe’s success is a clear testimony that the Second Republic’s policies under President Mnangagwa’s leadership are yielding tangible results.“Zimbabwe has become a mining hub,” Minister Chitando declared to thunderous applause from delegates drawn from across the globe.
“Our progress is a reflection of a consistent policy environment, transparency, and investor confidence driven by the vision of His Excellency, President Dr. E.D.
Mnangagwa.”The report presented at the forum noted that Zimbabwe made unprecedented progress in areas such as regulatory stability, policy clarity, investment facilitation and mineral beneficiation earning it the top spot as the world’s most improved destination for mining investment.Under the US$12 Billion Mining Vision launched by President Mnangagwa, Zimbabwe’s mining industry has witnessed exponential growth with billions of dollars invested in gold, platinum, coal and lithium projects across the country.Minister Chitando said the recognition was an endorsement of Zimbabwe’s growing reputation as a stable, attractive and competitive mining jurisdiction.“We have modernised our laws, strengthened governance, and ensured that Zimbabwe’s vast mineral wealth is managed sustainably for the benefit of both the investor and the people,” he said.In recent years, Zimbabwe has drawn global attention for its booming lithium sector which has positioned the nation among the world’s key suppliers of critical minerals for the electric vehicle and renewable energy industries.The Beijing forum also saw Zimbabwean officials holding several high-level meetings with potential investors from China, the Middle East and Europ who were all keen to participate in the country’s growing mining value chain.Analysts said Zimbabwe’s recognition as the most improved mining jurisdiction shows the country’s impressive turnaround under the Second Republic.“This award demonstrates that Zimbabwe is back on the map not as a raw mineral exporter, but as a value-driven mining hub in Africa,” said one participant.Minister Chitando reaffirmed Government’s commitment to continue improving the investment climate, adding that the milestone was both an honour and a motivation to work harder.Leave a ReplyCancel reply
