Harare β The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has moved to end growing speculation surrounding the structure of the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, firmly dismissing a proposal by the Premier Soccer League (PSL) to suspend relegation and expand the league to 22 teams. In a statement issued by its Media and Communications Department, ZIFA acknowledged receiving communication from the PSL dated 18 November 2025. The PSLβs Extraordinary General Meeting had reportedly resolved to petition the Association to allow all teams to retain their top-flight status and to increase the number of league participants beginning next season.
ZIFA confirmed that as per the norm, four clubs will be relegated at the end of the 2025 PSL season officially ending on 23rd of November 2025. The governing body emphasized that any structural changes to league composition must follow proper procedures as outlined in its statutes. βIn the event that the Premier Soccer League or any other member wish to propose an adjustment to the number of participating teams or propose any other resolution, such a request must be formally submitted to the Associationβ ZIFA noted.
Any such proposals would then be presented at the next ZIFA Congress for deliberation. The 2025 season draws to a close this weekend, with clubs at the bottom end of the table now set to battle for survival under the reaffirmed relegation rules.
