ZESCO Limited has partnered with Jigsaw Investments, under JIGSCO Energy, to put up a 100-megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in Siavonga District, Southern Province, at an estimated cost of $80 million. Zesco says the solar project will be delivered through JIGSCO Energy Corporation Limited, a joint venture between Zesco Limited and Jigsaw Investments, with Power China serving as the contractor responsible for engineering, procurement and construction. Energy Minister Makozo Chikote has assured Siavonga residents that the project is not a campaign strategy, noting that it will create close to 1,000 direct and indirect jobs for the local community.
