According to reports byNewsHawks, Mawoyo borrowed US$80,000 from his friend Benson Maeka on 6 January 2024. The two signed a written agreement outlining the loan terms, and no interest was charged. Mawoyo was supposed to repay the money by a set date, but he failed to do so.
Maeka tried repeatedly to get his money back, even sending demands as late as 26 November 2024, but Mawoyo avoided repayment and allegedly started dodging his friend altogether.
Frustrated, Maeka took the matter to court.
