Walter Nyamukondiwa in ALASKAZanu PF is confident of reclaiming Chinhoyi Ward 14 seat, riding on the party’s people-centred initiatives and infrastructure development thrust.With a strong infrastructure drive that will see the installation of at least six boreholes to ease water supply challenges in the mining settlement of Alaska, rehabilitation of roads and setting up of a community horticultural centre, Zanu PF is buoyant.Speaking at a rally to drum up support for Ward 14 candidate Bizwork Solomon, Central Committee member and Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Marian Chombo said people should correct their mistake by voting for the Zanu PF candidate.The seat fell vacant following the conviction of then-councillor Chipo Mlotswa on fraud charges involving stands.“This is another chance that the people of Alaska have been given to maintain the development trajectory being spearheaded by President Mnangagwa’s Government,” said Minister Chombo, who was the guest of honour.“The choice before you is tangible things like Command Agriculture, inputs distribution and infrastructure development not barrets, T-shirts and whistles that the opposition in its varied forms has been able to provide,” she said.Zanu PF Mashonaland West Provincial chairman Cde Mary Mliswa-Chikoka, speaking predominantly in Chewa, implored Alaska residents to vote for the Zanu PF candidate for development.The mining town comprises mostly people of Chewa and Nyanja origin.“I plead with you people of Alaska to vote the Zanu PF candidate, Bizwork Solomon, for continued development,” she said.“We don’t want to waste any vote.
