President Mnangagwa Mourns India Plane Crash Victims
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has expressed his condolences to the people of India following a devastating plane crash that claimed more than 200 lives on Thursday The tragedy occurred shortly after take-off when a London-bound Air India flight crashed near Ahmedabad in western India The plane was carrying 242 people, including passengers and crew Reacting to the news, President Mnangagwa took to his official X (formerly Twitter) account to share a message of support
He offered his deepest sympathies to the Indian government and said Zimbabweans are mourning alongside the Indian nation In his message, Mnangagwa also said Zimbabwe’s thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost loved ones, and he wished a full recovery to those who were injured “I extend my deepest sympathies to the government and people of the Republic of India following the tragic plane crash of Flight 171 Zimbabwe stands in solidarity with the Indian nation during this time of mourning

Authorities in India say the full extent of the tragedy is still unfolding So far, 204 bodies have been recovered, but officials are still working to confirm how many of the victims were on board the plane and how many may have been on the ground when it crashed
