Musa Khawula has hinted that he will appear at the Madlanga Commission. The Madlanga Commission has refused to confirm whether controversial blogger Musa Khawula will testify before it, despite Khawula publicly suggesting he has been subpoenaed. The standoff has intensified scrutiny around the commission’s work and reignited debate over whetherKhawula’s January 2025 arrestwas routine law enforcement or the product of political pressure at the highest level.
On Tuesday, Khawula posted a screenshot on X showing what he claimed was a message and missed call from the commission, implying he had been summoned to appear. The post quickly spread, fuelling speculation that the outspoken blogger could become a central figure in the inquiry. But commission spokesperson Jeremy Michaels shut down confirmation.
“The Commission does not ventilate its confidential communication in public,” Michaels said. “There are many engagements unfolding with a number of individuals. We certainly do not want to get into a discussion in public on any of those matters.” He stressed that while Khawula had chosen to publicise the alleged communication, the commission would not follow suit.
