Dunno ’bout you, but the I find the URC to be dull, almost tedious. Is it the long drawn out programme? Too many teams with few real contenders for the playoffs?
Most of the English, Scottish and alas boyo Welsh teams simply make up the numbers? Teams such as the Sharks, more often than not field ‘B’ teams, and use a slippery ball as an excuse? Maybe it’s because, like you, I can hardly wait for the main course — the Boks’ amazing itinerary this year.
Maybe the answer is all of the above? Perhaps it’s because so many of the teams are not unearthing exciting young players, and worse still, persist by playing a stodgy safety first, cut out mistakes and flair, short interpassing, and a grind out game plan? I mean it seems to me that rugby in England, Scotland and the now not so green mined out valleys in Wales are simply not producing exciting young talent.
