After high school, Chioniso pursued a Diploma in Marketing Management at Bulawayo Polytechnic in 2018, a path chosen after her family discouraged her from studying Sports Media. Still, she remained determined to follow her passion. In 2022, she enrolled in the FIFA/CIES International Programme in Sport Management at Nelson Mandela University in South Africa, completing it in September 2023.
This milestone gave her international recognition and strengthened her professional profile. Her breakthrough came in 2019 through the Yvonne Mangunda Mentorship Program. Though her auditions faltered, her sports content on Twitter caught Mangunda’s eye, earning her a second chance.
She trained under Muziwethu Hadebe in Bulawayo, gained exposure with veteran broadcaster Steve Vickers at Star FM, and freelanced for H-Metro. These opportunities sharpened her skills and gave her the confidence to step into the competitive world of sports media. Her national breakthrough came in 2023 when she was appointed the first-ever Media Officer for the Mighty Warriors, Zimbabwe’s women’s national football team.

She began her duties at the HollywoodBets COSAFA Women’s Championship in South Africa, marking a historic moment for women in football media. Today, Chioniso Mashakada continues to rise, recently appointed as Simba Bhora’s Media Officer. From her childhood in Bulawayo to her current role in shaping Zimbabwean football narratives, she embodies determination, resilience, and trailblazing leadership. Her journey is proof that passion, persistence, and mentorship can break barriers and redefine the role of women in sport.
