Photo: Backpagepix Current World Rugby’s Player of the Year, Malcolm Marx, added another achievement to his individual accolades on Thursday night, after being honoured with his second SA Rugby Player of the Year award. Marx beat out fellowSpringboksand teammates Pieter-Steph du Toit, Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, Ox Nche, and Jasper Wiese to the 2025 award.

The 31-year-old, who also won the award in 2017, joins an illustrious group of players that includes Du Toit, Bryan Habana, Schalk Burger, Fourie du Preez, Jean de Villiers, Duane Vermeulen and Eben Etzebeth to have won the top rugby award in the country twice or more. Springbok Women superstar Nadine Roos, meanwhile, joined him in receiving the prestigious SA Rugby Women’s Player of the Year award, as well as the Springbok Women’s Sevens Player of the Year award. Photo: Backpagepix Unsurprisingly, the Springboks won the Team of the Year honour, whilecoach Rassie Erasmus— snubbed by World Rugby in recent years despite dominating the Test arena — walked away with the Coach of the Year award after winning 11 of the 13 Tests in 2025. After a stellar year in the Green and Gold, 23-year-old Ethan Hooker of the Sharks received the SA Rugby Young Player of the Year award.
