Glody Lilepo of Kaizer Chiefs celebrates his goal against Marumo Gallants on Wednesday night. Photo: Backpagepix Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze could not hide his admiration for Glody Lilepo after the winger produced a moment of magic to steer Amakhosi to a vital Betway Premiership victory. “We are very happy to walk away with three points but also what a goal (by Lilepo), it’s not a goal that you see every day,” said Kaze after Chiefs edged Marumo Gallants 1-0.
“I’m happy for Lilepo especially because after his injury against Simba, he is slowly coming back and there was a little bit of pressure on him in the last few weeks but he responded very well and we know he’s a big player that can make the difference.” Lilepo’s stunning second-half strike proved decisive as Chiefs climbed to second place on the Betway Premiership standings, moving to within two points of log-leaders Mamelodi Sundowns and strengthening their title credentials. The contest was finely balanced in the opening exchanges, with both sides cautious and compact, limiting space in midfield and forcing Chiefs to be patient in their build-up. Clear-cut chances were scarce in the first half, with Gallants defending resolutely and looking to frustrate the Soweto giants.
