Lovemore Dube,[email protected]REIGATE District National Association of Secondary School Heads is hopeful of assembling a strong team for the Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Track and Field Championships set for March 4-5. This was revealed by the head in charge of the sport in the district Innocent Masina at the district championships at White City Stadium on Thursday where 12 teams are taking part.The competition will end on Friday with the selection of a team to take part in the inter-district competition. There were some exciting duels especially in the sprints and middle distances which may see an exciting competition entail when they meet teams like Bulawayo Central and Mzilikazi District teams featuring former Group A schools which were competitive in sprints and field events and the group that has Magwegwe and Mpopoma High Schools.

“We want to come up with a good team that will represent us at provincial level,” said Masina as the boys and girls burnt calories on the track. Masina said the district often performs well with a second spot finish in 2025 behind Mzilikazi District. Judging from what he saw on Thursday of the action, Masina said there would be need to work hard to be in a position to compete for honours for the district on March 4-5.
