Msunduzi municipal employees were out in full force on Thursday, repairing dangerous, gaping pavements in several parts of the city. Damaged or missing pavement slabs along Chief Albert Luthuli, Chief Mhlabunzima and Peter Kerchoff Streets were replaced with new ones as part of the municipality’s broader programme to improve pedestrian safety. The municipality has acknowledged these challenges and says the current pavement-repair drive is one of several initiatives aimed at addressing long-standing infrastructure backlogs and improving mobility throughout the city.
