Bafana Bafana have been eliminated from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) after a 2-1 last 16 defeat to businesslike Cameroon in Rabat on Sunday night. South Africa, who finished third in the previous tournament in Ivory Coast early in 2024, were made to pay for failing to take advantage of their early dominance where they wasted three glorious opportunities in the opening 10 minutes. Bafana settled first, troubling Cameroon with their quick-passing game but Lyle Foster, Relebohile Mofokeng and Samukele Kabini failed to find the target from good scoring positions.

Broos interestingly chose Kabini ahead of Aubrey Modiba at left wingback. This proved a bad decision as Kabini had a torrid evening in the office with some poor decision-making.
